Half Dead and Fully Broken by Kevin Craig
Young Adult Contemporary-Fantasy

I found this novel to be a great story about love, friendship, brotherhood, and family life.

This Young Adult book gets to the depth of your soul in a very short time. It makes you think about serious emotional issues, such as death, the afterlife, divorce, mental health issues and a few others, I don't want to mention, or I'll ruin the story for you.

It's a fast read, I read my copy of the book in two nights. I should have called in sick, so I could finish reading it in one day. Next time.

Review Tour ~ Altar of Reality

Altar of Reality by Mara Valderran
Young Adult Dystopian novel

The author, Mara Valderran, does a great job by throwing you into a dystopian world, with a little romance and science fiction aspect, to keep you interested and demanding more.

The intrigue starts on the first page of this novel with, "All I did was blink. Blink. Desk at school. Blink. Hospital bed." Obviously, time was moving too fast for Madeline, the main character to determine where she really was and what was going on with her. The reader really wants to know too, so they continue to flip the pages. Fast. This is a good thing.

Burn Baby Burn Baby by Kevin Craig
Contemporary YA Novel

This book was a fantastic portrayal of the every day teenage life, with sticks and stones thrown in to make us gasp, including some trial and errors of coping with the main characters problems, using methods such as alcohol, that every child experiences at one time or another. Teens are often struggling to find the right path on how to deal with small issues, let alone larger ones that happen near the end of the book. Sometimes, it's hard facing the truth of what life is like behind the closed door...sometimes, you never know.

The Writing Spiral: Learning as a Writer

This book started originally as an Anthology of many different writers telling their stories of why they write, how they write, and basically writing essays and stories of how they learned to become the writer they are today. Jessica Outram, author of The Writing Spiral, then added her contribution of her need to create a learning experience for all readers and writers.

The Writing Spiral is an inspirational and motivational book for those writers, who want to learn more about the craft of writing and to discover the true meaning behind the real writer's life. I am a contributing author in this book and you can read more about my story here: Alone in a Crowd.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Christmas in Canada
101 Stories about the Joy and Wonder of the Holidays

Great book, that I can't rate, as I have a story in this book. Within this book, there are 101 Canadian Christmas Stories, written by various authors, edited by Amy Newmark and Janet Matthews. This book makes for a terrific gift for a person who loves Christmas and enjoys the inspirational feeling they get from reading about real people during the Christmas season.
