He sighed heavily. He didn't want to kill her. He really didn't. But it was becoming clearer and clearer that getting rid of her might be his only option.

"The bodyguard too?"

"Especially him." His lip curled, and tension radiated down his neck. "I want Sean Owens dead."

~ Tara Wyatt, Necessary Risk (The Bodyguard Series #1)

Description:

Trained to protect against all danger, a professional bodyguard can provide all the muscle a woman needs. But when their hearts are on the line, love is the riskiest business . . .

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME

Former child star Sierra Blake is making a stunning Hollywood comeback-and attracting a scary amount of attention. When her home is vandalized and her safety threatened, she knows it's time to bring in the professionals. But from the moment she sets eyes on her indecently sexy new bodyguard, Sierra's thoughts are anything but professional . . .

Few things in this world scare Sean Owens-until he realizes he's in serious danger of losing his heart to his new client. No matter how much he wants to, Sean won't let his feelings for the smart and gorgeous Sierra get in the way of doing his job. Because as the attacks against her escalate, crossing the line between business and pleasure could get them both killed.

About the Author:

Tara Wyatt is a contemporary romance author who's been making up love stories ever since she fell head over heels for the Backstreet Boys almost twenty years ago. Not content with merely daydreaming about Nick Carter, she grabbed a notebook and wrote what she now realizes was Backstreet Boy fan fiction.

After outgrowing her boy band obsession and obtaining an Honours B.A. in English Literature and Philosophy from McMaster University, her love of books and reading led her to pursue a Masters' degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Western Ontario. Currently, she works for a large public library system, where she has the arduous task of selecting books for children and young adults for the library's collection.

Winner of the Unpublished Winter Rose Award, Linda Howard Award of Excellence and the Heart of the West Award, Tara lives in Hamilton, Ontario with the cutest dog in the world and a husband that makes all of her heroes look like chumps.

My Thoughts:

The Romantic Suspense novel, Necessary Risk was an entertaining and sexy debut. As soon as I read it was part of a Bodyguard series, my mind travelled back to 1992 (the year my first daughter was born, so I remember it well) and the movie called "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston costarring. Costner was a retired Secret Service Agent, who decided to work as a bodyguard and Houston, a music star hired him to protect her from an unknown stalker. Necessary Risk had all the same romantic thriller aspects of that movie, only with a few more twists you didn't see coming. What an intriguing and fabulous read!

Sierra, the strong female protagonist had a small crack of
vulnerability that scared her to her core. She needed help and protection that her family, or her company couldn't provide her with. Sean Owens, her sexy bodyguard wasn't afraid of anything, until he realized there was a real threat of losing Sierra, who he had this magnificent, magnetic attraction to. This was new for him and he just couldn't help himself, even though it was against his moral code of not getting involved with clients. But, the attraction was mutual. This is where the swooning comes in! The heat was radiating off the page of this novel. The story was full of suspense, danger, some car chases, bombs, guns, old lovers, family feuds and strange family dynamics. It also hit a hot newsworthy topic of Sierra representing a company, called Choices, that was helping women with the options and alternatives they have to make with birth control, pregnancy, adoption, abortion, etc. The public obviously takes side in this debate... as does the stalker. Everyone has an opinion and Sierra's stalker wanted his opinion known, plus he wanted his choice to be everyone's choice. Why? You'll need to read the book to find out.

I can't wait to read book #2, Primal Instinct being released in May 2016 and book #3,
Chain Reaction coming in February 2017. Tara has me waiting impatiently.

My Rating:  5 out of 5 Stars
(because I swoon at the first mention of the word 'bodyguard' (especially sexy bodyguards), I love tough guys with a sweet romantic side, I love suspense and unexpected twists, but mostly I love reading about guys who are willing to risk their life for the one they love, against what their family and friends have to say about it).
