I MADE THE SHORTLIST! I'm using all caps because I'm shouting & dancing around my kitchen right now. After a huge discussion and friendly debate among the judges, the team has decided on the final eight Canadian writers who will partake in the Blank Spaces Anthology. What happens now? The final eight stories are being published within a short story collection, titled: "The Things We Leave Behind Anthology". The book will be published in April 2022 and is available for preorder on the Blank Spaces website. See the link below: |
The final eight stories are being sent to a grand prize judge who will select one lucky writer to receive a cash prize, an automatic Pushcart prize nomination, and an offer for a manuscript critique with potential to publish a personal full length work/collection. Which means, each author has a 12.5% chance of being the last one standing. The odds are against me of winning this piece of the contest, because I’m more of a hybrid author. This means my writing is only slightly literary, and it has more of a commercial feel to it. There are many stories here that are 90% literary, and they are filled with vivid descriptions and beautiful emotions. Of course, we all know that stories are subjective. It all comes down to the final judge and what that judge finds most appealing.
Congratulations & good luck to all eight writers:
AceBaker, BarbaraLehtiniemi, JulieMeier, DawnMiller, JenniferMoffatt, CherylSkorySuma, LoriTwining, and RonaldZajac.
The Grand Prize Winner will be announced in December. Stay tuned.
